If I lived in Stark County I’d be scared not to vote for this guy.

Cool video of how New Meadowlands Stadium is changed from the Giants home field to the Jets.

I originally saw the video at History in the Making.

2 good resources for youth workers

The 1st is a guest post by Steven Moore at  It contains 4 good tips for anyone who works w/ a group of teenagers.  Here’s 1 of the 4:

Compliment in Public / Correct in Private
Complimenting is important but easy. Celebrate and share their successes with others inside and outside the group. Correcting is equally important but NOT near as easy. Don’t shy away from a learning and growing opportunity for both you and the student. If a problem arises you may have to initially diffuse it in public, but address further in private. Don’t just correct, but also discuss the motives behind the offense, how a repeat offense can be avoided, the personal leadership potential in the student, and the influence they carry with others even if they don’t recognize it.

The 2nd is a video from Kurt Johnson & the Simpy Junior High Podcast on small groups starting off a new year.  While Kurt’s context is different from my own there are some really good info that can apply to just about any situation.

Google Docs

I’ve recently began using Google Docs for just about every document that I create.  Why? I was having a harder time keeping track of everything.  I had certain files at home on my iMac, work stuff on my office dell computer & other items on our Student Ministry’s MacBook Pro.  It was getting to be a real pain.

Google docs has simplified all of this for me.  Now all of my documents are available everywhere I have internet access.  Plus, it’s a ton easier/better to share documents rather than emailing them & multiple people can work on 1 document.

It doesn’t have all of the capabilities of Microsoft Office or iWork, but I’ve found it very capable of just about everything that I need for it to do.

What Motivates Us

I’ve posted on this topic before.  Fascinating for those of us who work in non-profits & lead volunteers.

This video is from Kurt Johnson, Jr. High pastor at Saddleback. It’s a really good conversation on teaching jr. high students to share their faith. It is no doubt the best video on the topic by someone wearing a Led Zeppelin t-shirt.

Book Review: Same Kind of Different as Me

Best story I’ve read since…I’m not sure.  I began reading it yesterday afternoon & only stopped to eat supper.  Incredible story of the lives of 2 men.  I suggest purchasing it, but only begin reading it when you have the time to read the entire book.

For more about the book visit its website.
Purchase it from Amazon.
