New Orleans

Filed under: Uncategorized — Neil @ 1:30 pm

We made our annually Christmas trip to New Orleans this past week.  Here’s a quick review:

  • We stayed at the Bourbon Orleans.
  • If you are ever visiting New Orleans between Christmas & New Orleans make sure to give priceline a try for your hotel.  Last year we stayed at a 4 star & this year a 3 star for a really ridiculously low price.
  • We attempted to eat lunch at Central Grocery, but they were out of bread (how does a sandwich place run out of bread at lunch?).
  • Lunch at Bacco’s was really good, but not quite our style.
  • We ate our usual fried seafood at Deanie’s.
  • Late night snack at Cafe du Monde, but no breakfast there due to the Florida & Cincinnati fans that were lined up for blocks waiting to get in.
  • I’ve eaten many pralines, but the chocolate pralines that I had Saturday morning were the best I’ve ever had.
  • My favorite place to eat in New Orleans? Taqueria Corona on Magazine.

  1. Juans Flying Burrito on Magazine is good. Ever been there?

No offense, but I’m not a Deanie’s fan. I go to New Orleans Food & Spirits. (No, not the Holy Spirit…but I don’t partake in other spirits either)

  2. I like Flying Burrito as well. Nacho Mama’s on Magazine is also good. Taqueria Corona blows both of them away though.

I prefer New Orleans Food & Spirits as well. Best food in Bucktown. However, we were staying in the Quarter & didn’t want to drive anywhere. Deanie’s is the best bet for basic fried seafood @ reasonable price in the Quarter. Plus, Amanda loves their crawfish balls.
