The Toughest 10%

Filed under: Uncategorized — Neil @ 6:00 am

Read Ed Young’s thoughts on removing 10% of his church’s staff.

He encourages churches to continually be removing the weakest 10% of a church’s staff.  He writes:

For any organization to maintain life, it must remain fluid. Otherwise, it becomes stagnate. And as the living body of Chirst, we must recognize this and not be afraid to follow the steps to maintain vitality and life.

It’s an interesting/controversial idea.  Sure, pastors/ministers need to be good stewards of the ministries God has given us, but is annually removing 10% healthy?  How healthy can the work environment be?  How competitive must the staff be w/ one another? I’m all for accountability & high expectations, but is this taking it too far?

What are your thoughts?
