Decision Making 4 – seeking wise counsel

Filed under: Personal — Neil @ 5:37 pm

I have a handful of men (& Amanda) that I go to when I have a difficult decision to make.  I’ve found that few things give me better direction that the advice of godly men who love the Lord and sincerely care about Amanda & myself.

Proverbs is full of commands to seek out wise counsel (it’s crazy that Solomon was the wisest man to ever live & he wrote the most about seeking wise counsel).

Who to seek out counsel from:

  • someone who is a follower of Jesus
  • someone who is wiser than you are
  • someone who has walked down the path you are traveling (for ministry decisions I primarily seek out older ministers who have had to make similar decisions)
  • someone who isn’t going to gain/loose anything based on your decision

Any suggestions on how to make wise decisions?
