Wednesday Reflections

Jr. High

  • Crowd: I believe it was the 3rd Wednesday in a row that it has rained.  The crowd was 37 which is below average, but the weather isn’t helping us.
  • Game: Old School Friends – Click here to view the game; It was guys vs. girls & the guys came out ahead.  Lots of fun.  I’ve figured out that upfront games work the best in our space.  I’ve enjoyed “creating” the games for each of the weeks of the jr. high service.  Last year I mainly used stuff I purchased or found.  Creating stuff just for our group works better.
  • Music:  We were without a drummer, but it was still really good.  Josh stayed w/ the Old School theme & opened w/ Lean on Me (complete w/ the cheesy motions) & followed w/ some mid 90s worship songs.
  • Teaching:  Friendship is a topic that hits a nerve w/ everyone.  I thought it was as practical & applicable of a lesson as there is for jr. high students.  The Hawk Nelson video & the clip from Andy Griffith both really worked.

Sr. High

  • Crowd:  It was our lowest crowd of the year, but they were an energetic group tonight.  A small crowd usually means a low energy level, but that wasn’t true tonight.
  • Game:  We usually don’t do a game w/ the high school but we did the same game as the jr. high & it was just as fun w/ this crowd.  The ladies took the prize.
  • Music: See above.  The high school crowd got really into the old school worship songs.
  • Teaching:  The movie clips didn’t work as well, but I used James Taylor’s “You’ve Got A Friend” to illustrate Proverbs 17:17 & it did connect.
