Jr. High Choir & Jr. High Girls

Amanda & are currently enjoying the jr high choir program. Lots of talented kids & teachers. They are putting on a great show.

I do wonder about what we adults are teaching young girls. We put way too much emphasis on them being in a relationship. For example so far tonight every song that girls (groups or solos) have sung have been about a guy. Either about dating a guy, wanting to date or breaking up w/ a guy. However, Its not just choir perfoances that do this, but adults in general make teen girls think they need to be dating a guy.

Being a teenager is already tough enough, there’s no need for adults to make it tougher.

  1. I agree with you. It is sad when as young as 3rd, 4th grade girls think they have to have a “boyfriend”! I have tried to explain to my 10 yr old daughter that you do not need to have a “boyfriend” until you are older.

  2. Agreed. I love jr. high guys. They are just naturally fun to be around. However, I’ve yet to recommend that a jr. high couple “date.” I just don’t think its healthy for either the guy or the girl.
